Patagonia,
Arizona
Patagonia is a small town of less
than 1000 in Santa Cruz County, Arizona. It is home to artists,
craftsman,
retirees, and visited many thousands each year. Patagonia
is tightly connected to neighboring Sonoita
and Elgin. The Nature Conservancy
is active in preserving Patagonia-Sonoita
Creek Preserve, which is home to endangered fish, butterflies
and birds. Another attraction and popular recreation area is Patagonia
Lake where you can camp, picnic, water ski, hike and fish. The
lake is habitat for bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, and rainbow
trout. Though not currently open to the public, Patagonia is close
to San
Rafael Ranch State Park. It is located approximately 23 miles
southeast of Patagonia in southern Santa Cruz County.
